Checking the hotel (across the street) these rapellers it seems that these rapellers are providing the entertainment...cause, still no bats.  Kelly can't remember them ever being this late.  I'm thinking maybe the blaring music is upsetting their routine.  Or maybe they just got tired of entertaining them two legged creatures.  They might have hired a PR agency that convinced them they should be charging admission.  Perhaps it has something to do with their breeding season.  Might be a no show

These daredevils are the whole show

BATS!!
xxx
They're flying beneath our feet.  But you'd never know it without the flash from the camera.  I'm just aiming the camera down and firing into the void.  At first, a sightseeing boat was shining a red beam, and we could see a few bats.  But the flash seems to be the best method.  Goodness knows what all those people on the lawn can actually see.  Considering how dark it is I'd say --zilch.  Same with all the kayakers, perhaps most have left already. I didn't see any light traces from the water, so maybe no one had a flashlight, to find their way back to shore --much less see bats.  The sky over the hotel was actually almost totally dark.  Lightening up with the computer was necessary for me to get any detail.

Indeed, there still were a couple of kayakers below...barely discernable

The decks clear, as everyone heads home
No doubt a lot of disappointed visitors

I'll be returning to here in a few hours
Seems a shame to go all the way back home

But all the way back home is not what Kelly has in mind --not yet, anyway.  AMY'S ICE CREAM is on the agenda.  Gotta have an Amy's ice cream.  OK, but as long as cones are (still) ten cents, a double twenty cents.  Hey, that's what I paid the last time I bought an ice cream cone.  Used to live around the corner from an ice cream shop in San Francisco...age 9 to 14.  My sister once worked there. (Got an appendicitis for her trouble...Ok, never proved --no lawsuit.)
XX
TWO SEVENTY FIVE FOR A SINGLE CONE??  Outrageous.  Oh, I can get a sugar or regular cone for the same price.  Well, OK, that's different --yeah right.  So Kelly, my treat.  Huh.  I can hear at least one person I know back home (my home) exclaiming that.  Frugal Bruce paying $2.75 for a single ice cream cone AND treating someone as well??  Take his temperature, quick.  It's really to make up for not picking up the whole tab at dinner.  After all, that's the Servas way.  It's a warm night...the ice cream tastes good.  I lick it v-e-r-y slowly...mmm.

Now for the other side of the Capitol

This side is where I'm meeting the tour at 11 o'clock.  It's now about 9:45, so have time to go inside and look round.  Wonder if I'll have to take my shoes off when I go through the metal detector.  Probably the belt --BEEP.
