Back to the lake.  Also, back to Riparian Park.  This time I'm intending to take the path up the hill I passed the last time, and see where it goes
I'm also here about an hour earlier than last time, so there should be more sunlight on the walkway
xxx

.............
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx..Ah, didn't see this creature climbing down the tree beforexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxThe last time there wasn't any sun on this tree
xxxx
.....
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxDon't recall seeing this face before, either
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxGuess he's an omnivore
xxx

xx

xxMore foot traffic today

xx

xxxxxxFollowing my quarry
xx

Lake Blvd., the one I turn off Skyhaven onto...and where the Park is off of
xxx
I take a path before the hilly one I intended to
It wends it's way towards the top of a hillside...at least I hope it does
I pass an older couple coming down.  Is the view worth it (the climb) I ask. The man assures me it is
I don't inquire how much farther, but it seems like about a 100'
Well there are views and there are views
On the other side it's a long descent.  Do I want to do this?  It goes down then up again
Beyond, the path continues to skirt the houses behind an iron fence...signs all along saying No Trespassing
xxx

At first it looked like some kind of fortress
But it's just a water tank
xxxx

And there's the lake
It's actually in Carlsbad, not Oceanside
Based on the map, Oceanside has a weird boundary line with Carlsbad
xxx
.....
New Venture School and Christian Academy
xxxx

A small creek at the bottom --easily crossed
xx
...........
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxAs I start back up the other side I can see the full extent of where I came downxxxxxxxxAnd here she comes now...a runner, better yet
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxNow all I need for my picture is someone to climb the hillxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.........Luckily, it wasn't a long wait

xx
........

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxIt looks a lot steeper than it isxxxxxxxxxxxx.....Follow her all the way upxxxxxxxxUnfortuately, she turned off, so couldn't get her
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.x.walking "on" the wire...and no one else coming
xxx
....
My first muddy obstacle
Though easily circumvented
xxxxxx

Whoa.  Now this is something else again...looks more passable on the right side
Damn, I'm now regreting not wearing my hiking boots
xxx

This is caked mud, with the sun reflected off the thin layer of surface water
xx

There's probably faces or creatures to be found there
But I'm not taking the time to find them
xx

I was going to continue up this path, but decide to turn off here
xx
And all of the sudden I see it!!
xx
.....
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx...................A coyotexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx..Here again the legs position looks odd
xxxxxxIt was facing me when I first caught a glimpse of it.  But then turned and trotted awayxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.....Looks like he's missing a leg
xxxxxxxx. It  looks like something's wrong with its leg, based on the position I caught it in
xxx
.........
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.........I couldn't get another clear shot of itxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx........So far it's ??
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.the camera here focusing on the branches

Great place to play frisbee
xxx

Carlsbad Hills Village
xx

I guess this is a favorite spot for bicyclists
xx

??
xx

A wall of branches
xx
....

One last look
xxx

xxxI'm not going back the way I came, only now I'm encountering this fence
I'd have to go back south a ways to get around it --if I went back the way I came
Only now I see that the fence continues around to the north --blocking my way to go north

xxx

The fence fences in a Wildlife Habitat Preserve
How far I'll have to walk  --to the west-- before I can get around it I have no idea
But it may add a lot of extra walking which I had no intention of doing...it's a long enough walk back as it is
xxx

Then again, I guess this was worth itxx

xxxxxx
I'm getting closer and closer to the volcano, and seeing no end of fence in sight
Then all of the sudden --a break.  A wide swath of open area and the official trail going where I want to go --North
xxx
....
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxLooks kinda rocky, but the trail is actually going Eastxxxxxxxxxxxxx....Not bad for a walking panned shot
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx....Then it goes south again...hope it doesn't do a loop
.......................................It goes east, then ultimately northeast back to the Park trail
xxxx
 baxxxx
This is green plastic, but looks silvery with the sun reflecting off it
xx

xxxxx
........
Looks familiar
xxx
.......
Don't remember seeing this wood grain last time...nor the "2 birds"
xxx
........
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx..............Commute timexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxBarrier torn asunder --and picture worthy
xx

Just ready to shoot the stoplight and yellow line...
when this guy completed the picture
